In our letter to birth parents, Cyndi mentions I had some jazz playing in my truck when I picked her up. If anyone's interested, the album was Herbie Hancock's Gershwin's World. I think I'd just put it in a few minutes before, so it was on track 2 ("It Ain't Necessarily So") when Cyndi and I got in the vehicle.
Here's the thing: after many years of being set up on blind dates, I'd evolved a little "test". I'd play a jazz album on the CD player and hope my date would at least recognize the genre. Cyndi was the first to identify the music as jazz. Just as importantly she liked it!
